Spring cleanup — getting your Calgary yard awake
After a long Calgary winter, most yards emerge with matted-down grass, broken branches, leftover leaves, sand from sidewalk salting, and gravel pushed onto the lawn by snowplows. Without a proper cleanup, that mess smothers new spring growth and gives weeds an easy head start.
Our spring cleanup includes a full property walk, hand raking, power-raking where needed, gravel and debris removal from lawn edges, hard-surface blow-off and a final haul-away. Most properties need it sometime between mid-April and mid-May, depending on snowmelt and how dry the lawn is.
Fall cleanup — protecting next year’s lawn
Calgary’s short fall window means leaves can pile up fast — especially in established neighbourhoods with mature trees. Leaving them on the lawn through winter creates dead patches, encourages snow mold and gives voles a perfect tunnel network under the snow.
A proper fall cleanup removes all leaves, cuts back perennials, clears garden beds, mows the lawn one final time at a slightly lower height, and clears all hard surfaces. Done before the first big snowfall, it dramatically reduces work in spring and protects the health of your lawn through winter.
Power-raking, dethatching and aeration
Calgary’s short growing season often means thatch — that dense layer of dead material between grass blades and soil — builds up over time. Heavy thatch blocks water and nutrients, and is one of the most common reasons lawns thin out by year five.
Power-raking pulls thatch out mechanically, leaving the soil exposed so air, water and fertilizer can reach the roots. Combined with core aeration, it’s the single most effective way to revive a tired Calgary lawn in spring. We offer both as add-ons to any cleanup.
After-storm and rental cleanups
Calgary weather doesn’t always cooperate with cleanup schedules — wet snow events, summer hailstorms and big wind days can leave a yard wrecked in an afternoon. We offer same-week storm cleanup service to get your yard back in shape.
For rental properties, move-in/move-out cleanups, and one-time refreshes before listings, we offer flat-rate property cleanups with photo documentation. Property managers can request standing service across multiple sites.
